Flatwater Kayak - Races & Competitions
Flatwater kayaks were meant for sprints in flat water, and so the courses are short compared to other paddlesports. Most races are 200m, 500m, or 1000m. Boats are seperated into K1, K2 and K4, and men and women. There are some unofficial races which can go up to several kilometers. Sprint kayaks are raced at the olympic level, and they race the official courses of 200m, 500m and 1000m.
