Batman The Dark Night
The Dark Night was released in North America on July 18, 2008, and was directed by Christopher Nolan. The film is based on a DC Comic character Batman, and a sequel to 2005’s Batman Begins. The story takes place in Gotham city where the Joker is hired by the mob to kill Batman. The Joker issues an ultimatum to Gotham, stating that if Batman dose not reveal his identity to the public, people will die each day. The murders of Judge Surillo and Gordon prompt Wayne (Batman) to reveal his identity, but Harvey Dent intervenes by announcing that he is Batman and is arrested as part of a plan to draw the joker out of hiding. The joker attempts to ambush the police convoy carrying Harvey Dent, but is captured by Batman. The Joker is interrogated by Batman and he reveals that Rachel and Harvey have been kidnapped and placed in two warehouses rigged with explosives on opposite sides of the city. Batman leaves to save Rachel while the police go after Harvey. The Joker however escapes police custody by using a hidden explosive. Batman arrives at one of the warehouses and finds Harvey. The police arrive at Rachel’s location too late and she is killed when the bomb detonates. The Joker recruits Harvey by telling him to exact revenge on the corrupt cops and mobsters responsible for Rachel’s death. The Joker plans to destroy two ferries after the passengers on both boats decide not to destroy each other. Batman finds and subdues the joker preventing him from destroying both ferries. Batman leaves the scene in search of Harvey Dent and finds him at the remains of the building where Rachel died. Harvey is holding Gordon’s family at gun point. Batman tackles Harvey over the side of the building and Harvey Dent is killed. Batman flees the scene taking full responsibility for the murder of Harvey Dent and the man hunt for Batman begins. I Give Batman The Dark Night 4 and a half stars out of 5
