Fruits and vegetables like all the other groups are very important to maintain the right
servings. It is recommended that people should eat about 3 - 5 servings of vegetables daily and 2 - 4 servings
everyday. Eating the right amounts of servings will
cause you and your body to be more healthier. These food items may help reduce the risks of some types of cancer.
Research shows that you should eat at least 1 dark and 1 orange vegetable daily.
The green vegetable include arugula, broccoli, chard, dandelion greens, gai lan (a Chinese lettuce),
kale/collards, mustard greens, romaine lettuce, spinach and many more. Orange vegetables include carrots,
sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkin, yams, etc. This will make you eat or try new vegetables in the future.
Research also said that you should eat fruits and vegetables that are prepared with little or no fat, sugar
or salt. After several tests, researchers found out that you should eat more fruit and vegetables more than
drinking juice. The test results show that eating fruits and vegetables would provide more fibre than juice.
In some cases, fruits and vegetables have more juice than drinking the squeezed juice.
Some tips on eating fruits and vegetables would be to keep things fresh before eating. This would include
peeling or if you are tending to eat it raw. If you are planning on cutting the raw fruits and vegetables,
be sure that the cutting board is clean and that it has not been used to cut or prepare raw meat, raw poultry
or raw fish. You must separate the two different cutting boards because you could eat the juice from the meat
or eat something that is disgusting. Following these tips will cause you to be careful about all the fruits
and vegetables you take in. |
