Grains are one of the most common food groups. Grains are the seeds of some certain plants. The seed, or kernel, consists of three different parts: the bran, the endosperm and the germ. These are all of which contains important grains nutrients that play an important role in your diet. Whole grains contain all three parts of the kernel. It consists of bread, rice, whole wheat and many more. In some cases, it is important to eat a variety of different grains. Eating a variety of different grains may help you change in diet or have a grain2new pleasure in that product. It is important to take a minimum of 6 - 11 servings daily. Just like the fruits and vegetables group, it may help reduce risk of heart disease. Researchers have searched that half of the grains should be whole grains. Whole grains contains more important nutrients for your body. Most people do not have the correct amount of servings, therefore not having as much strength in their health. To maintain your health, be sure to use to eat the correct amount of servings each day.

Some useful tips on keeping all your grain products fresh is to look at the expiry dates. Like all food, some grains will go moldy if it is not properly stored. Otherwise, keep it in freezer until you are ready to use it. Storing it in the freezer will temporarily stop the grains from going bad. Store dry goods such as flours, cereals, rice and pasta in dry airtight containers away from heat and light. Keep whole grain flour and wheat germ in a cool dark place or the refrigerator to prevent them from going dry.These are all useful tips to follow to maintain the freshness in the grains.
