Clothes Make The Person  »  Conclusion
  Conclusion

Living in a well developed first world country is what many people around the world dream of. Because We've lived in this western power country our whole lives, we have about no clue what it's like for people in struggling nations. Our society is based on consumerism, therefore we don't know how to function in life without it. For this reason, we as a consumerist nation, have a huge impact on other peoples lives, whether we know it or not.

If everyone in the world were to live like us, the earth would become in complete chaos because of everything that is happening to the environment. Agriculture would fail due to mass amounts of pollution, and lack of people willing to work in that field. Global warming would conquer the globe making most places uninhabitable and desolate. For reasons like that, only a percentage of the world's population can live like we do. Because we live on the higher end of society, there needs to be more people on the lower end to balance things out. This means we need third world countries in order for global sustainment to succeed.

Most Canadians aren't willing to lower their living standards for the benefit of the earth, just like most people is less developed countries would be glad to raise their living standards at the cost of the earth's health. Until something very large comes in to change a huge group of people's opinions, this will be the way of life for a while to come.
