In Attendance:

 

Tony Goodman, Mike Decker, Jan Ross, Candice Hughes, Keith McCallion, Lori Downey, Marla Turner, Lindy England, Kris Poustie, Cindy Brar, Carla Lewis, Lyndagale Thorn, Colleen Olague, Pat Blundon

 

  1. Call to order - Tony Goodman

o       meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.

o       introduction of attendees

o       agenda and minutes circulated

 

  1. Minutes from Nov. general meeting - Lori Downey

o       Moved (Marla Turner) seconded (Kris Poustie) that minutes be accepted - carried

 

  1. Principal's Report - Keith McCallion

o       Thank-you notes from: Media Arts for funding and Staff for Christmas luncheon.

o       1st semester exam schedule posted and will be sent via email

o       smooth transition to 2nd semester anticipated, no additional staffing

o       new transfer process based on family of school rather than catchement

o       Challenge Program intake grade 9-12. Can mix with Esquimalt

 

  1. Student Leadership Report - Mrs. Meher and Mrs. Chatton

o       Middle School Leadership Conference very successful - 250 students

o       Knitting for needy - Youth Empowerment and Open Door

o       Food Drive for senior center

o       Mugging the teachers

o       Upcoming Events:

o       Mt. Doug loves you - every student and staff gets a heart with name on it

o       Grad lock in - Friday, Jan. 14

o       Match maker

o       Valentine Dance - Feb. 9

o       30 hour famine

o       Grad Fashion Show - Thurs. March 10 (volunteers needed: see Cindy Brar or Colleen Olangue)

o       Dance Off to raise funds for Fine Arts Complex May 14

 

  1. Treasurer's Report - Lindy England

o       reported on status of accounts

o       move to fund Europe trip for $3000.00 - accepted

 

  1. VPAC Report - Cindy Brar

o       meetings are 3rd Wed. of the month

o       will check on parent education topics such as internet use

 

  1. Fine Arts Report - Pat Blundon

o       Alumni Association looking into becoming a charitable organization

o       Municipality of Saanich gave $200,000.00 grant

o       School Board presentation was well received, but they have no money

o       Mt. Doug staff will look at other similar theatres in Vancouver

o       PAC is looking for ways to help

 

  1. Bingo Report - Jan Ross

o       4 dates to volunteer (Jan. 28, Feb. 25, May 13)

o       PAC will give money for new sign

o       Thurs. Jan. 20 AGM for Bingo Bingo. Jan Ross and Lindy England will attend

o       log book needed at all events to record list of volunteers

 

  1. Staff Luncheon Report - Marla Turner

o       great success with 23 volunteers serving 86 staff

o       Marla has volunteered to do again next year

 

  1. Communications Coordinator Report - Kris Poustie

o       Thank you notes distributed (Mt. Doug music department, Shoreline school) A file for all recognition will be created

o       file for any fundraising will be created

o       Keith will help streamline mail distribution

 

  1. President's Report

o       discussion of Safe Routes

o       needs to be made a municipal issue with letters and phone calls to counselors

o       PAC and Music Parents will send information to post of website to Paul Thomas

 

  1. Next Meeting

o       Feb. 10, 2005

o       March 10 meeting will be used to help Fashion Show
