  1. Call to Order - Tony Goodman
    • Meeting called to order 6:15.p.m.
  2. Introduction of attendees
  3. Leadership Report - Milan Shah
    • Leadership retreat last weekend generated 5 goals: foster school spirit, improve internal and community awareness of Mt. Doug events, enhance indoor and outdoor aesthetics, serve the community and increase awareness of global issues.
    • Two events so far were Corn Roast and Terry Fox Run
  4. Administration Report - Keith McCallion
    • Good start to school year with few class changes
    • Enrollment 1075
    • Planning Council needs 2 volunteers
    • Concerns over dances to be discussed with leadership
    • Class sizes range from 36-18
    • 22% Grade 12 received scholarships (district average is 8%)
  5. Treasurer's Report - Lindy England
    • Teacher expense funds have been spent
    • $3000 advance from this year's budget given to visual arts
    • Emergency preparedness is on going project
    • $24,000 discretionary money available
    • Process of disbursing funds was explained with balance sought between Arts and Athletics and groups generally receiving about 2/3 of request
    • Applications for funds need to be in one week before next PAC meeting
  6. Bingo - Jan Ross
    • Volunteers needed to work at Bingo Bingo in Esquimalt 2 Friday nights a month from 10:00 - 11:00. Volunteer sheet was distributed
  7. Fine Arts Report
    • Dance-a-thon had 40 participants and raised $1500 as well awareness for the project
    • Administration continues to meet with Saanich to discuss possibilities
    • Cost of construction and labour has increased
  8. Emergency Preparedness - Carla Reivis-Stewart
    • Materials will be delivered next week
  9. Grad Parents
    • Grade 11 parents need to be trained
  10. Chair's Report - Tony Goodman
    • Suggestions for school performances given (Daniel Packard:Storytelling/humor and Hoja: Music Group)
    • Teachers need to come forward with requests for funds
    • Late requests will not be considered
  11. Communication Coordinator
    • Duties being taken over by Candice Hughes
  12. Next Meeting
    • Changed day of meetings to 3rd Wed. of the month
    • Oct. 19, 7:00 p.m.
