  1. Call to Order - Tony Goodman
    • Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.
    • Agenda and attachments circulated
    • Introductions of attendees
  2. Minutes from November Meeting
    • Minutes accepted. Moved by Marla Turner, seconded by Jan Ross.
  3. Leadership Report - Karen Mayer, Albina Chatton, John Manson, Kristen Morch
    • Grad Fashion Show: Tues. Feb. 28.
    • Approximately 20 parents needed to help with event. Jobs include: pick up clothes at stores, return clothes, receive items at school, help at the event.
    • Email will go out to notify parents that their help is needed.
    • Substance Free School Dances proposal was presented
    • Date to be determined, but possibly early May
    • Pre-dance campaign to include:

1.      classroom visits by administration and students laying out specific consequences (consequences are still being considered)

2.      promotional video in foyer

3.      posters

4.      buttons to show support

5.      students helping with substance screening at the door

6.      liason officer/ police officers at door

  1. Administration Report - Keith McCallion
    • $50,000 provincial grant received. $15,000 for texts, $15,000 for learning resources, and $20,000 for computers.
    • 2 blocks of instructional time added to semester 2 to be used in 1 intensive behavior class, and 1 calculus 12 class
    • $24,000 received (100 days of TOC time) to supplement learning in examinable subjects. Also 12 hours of clerical support.
    • Teacher appreciation lunch well received. Thanks to Marla Turner.
    • Feb. 6-10 exam week. Study halls will be in effect.
    • Calendar changes: Report cards Feb. 23.
    • Meet the teacher Feb. 22, will include 3 workshops: trades, scholarships and planning/portfolios.
    • Marketing class was the winner in an investment competition.
    • Grade 12 may rewrite exams up to 3 times to make up for job action this year.
    • Principal annual review tables until next meeting.
  2. Transit/Bus Schedule - Julia Halliday
    • Parents with concerns about bus schedules are encouraged to contact Julia Halliday.
    • An email will be sent out ask parents to report their concerns.
    • Transit will hear concerns by mid Feb. for changes in the fall.
  3. Chair's Report - Tony Goodman
    • Lollypops purchased for Grade 9/12 students receiving immunization.
    • Portfolio 11 course discussed. A half-term course makes it impossible to take another elective. Alternatives are to be pursued. One suggestion was to make it optional based on mark received in Planning 10. Administration will continue to research the issue. Parental input is required.
    • Grade 12 Portfolio discussed. Still deciding the best way assess portfolios.
    • Health and Planning 9 to be implemented next year as part of Grade 9 Phys. Ed.
  4. Communication Report - Candice Hughes
    • Gift certificate from Lifetouch Photography was distributed to executive in appreciation for business.
  5. Treasurer's Report - Lindy England
    • Bingo license will expire this year.
    • New application has been sent in.
  6. Emergency Preparedness - Rob House for Carla Stewart
    • New Kiosk given approval ($5425.00)
    • Present Kiosk is fully stocked
    • Inventory taken of classroom emergency backpacks. Approval given for missing items to be replaced.
    • Number and location of fire extinguishers to be investigated.
    • Suggestion that crowbars be added to required items in backpack.
  7. RAMPAC notice board - Deb Ibariki
    • Deb and Candice Hughes will manage material that is to be posted on the notice board.
  8. Fine Arts Report - June Saracuse
    • Saanich Arts and Heritage Committee meeting Feb. 23, 9:00 a.m. at Saanich Council Municipal Hall.
    • Music Festival in planning stages for May/June to raise awareness for the project.
  9. Christmas Decorations - Jan Ross
    • Funding requested to decorate earlier in Christmas Season for the staff luncheon.  Approved.
  10. Fundraising - Bill Hampton
    • 50/50 draw at Band Concert was a success
