RAMPAC Annual General Meeting

In attendance: John Fawcett, Janet Langston, Daryl Cowden, Lindy England, Joy Carroll, Terry Carroll, Bill Hampton, Debbie Ibaraki, Lori Elder, Gail Pohl, Mark Hallam, Jan Ross, Kate Dickson, Cindy Davies, Loretta Dugaro, Rennie Dugaro, Sri Ganti.

 

1. Call to Order Daryl Cowden

Meeting was called to order at 7 p.m.

 

2. Adoption of Minutes

Minutes of November 21 were adopted with change to #5: to contact Gayle Bliss rather than Daryl Cowden. CARRIED

 

3. School Report John Fawcett shared a Dec. 11 letter from Saanich Engineering in response to our joint concerns about the crosswalk in front of the school. A special crosswalk will be installed across Gordon Head Road at McCoy by midspring. Gordon Head Road will be modified to include bike lanes with single lanes in both directions and a median 2-way lane in 2009. John and Daryl will write letter to Saanich to thank for prompt response.

 

Janet Langston reported about the Sierra Leone project. $200 honorarium was received from a conference in Vancouver with new teachers. $7500 raised for school in Sierra Leone. Need another $3000 hopefully by the end of June. Feb.11 will be Wine and Cheese ($20 per ticket) and auction of 100 pieces of donated jewelry. Gala evening with string ensemble. Emily Carr package donated from Ross family. Youth Combating Intolerance now a District-wide Club. Also raising money for a water station in Sri Lanka.

 

4. Treasurer's Report Lindy England

Copies of statements for 2006-2007 school year and September 2007 to year end were distributed. Income almost solely from Gaming Funds.

 

5. Leadership Report Taylor Syracuse

Taylor shared latest activities of Leadership group.

  • Mission Candy Cane handed out to people as a random act of kindness.
  • Semiformal dance "Christmas Classic" was a success.
  • Santa's breakfast was held the last day of school before holiday break.
  • Student Emma Delagi set up penny war between grades to raise money. Over $1200 was raised for World Vision which went to purchase a stable and goat.
  • January Leadership activities are low key as students prepare for exams. Leadership provides exam treats (chocolate on corner of desk).
  • Scarves are knitted for the needy.
  • February has Valentine Dance planned; Candygrams
  • Ongoing: Rambucks and Healthy School Program, grounds crew and recycling.

 

6. VCPAC Report Lori Elder

Next meeting at Hillcrest School at 7 pm. Lori is an Executive member. Check out website at www.vcpac.ca for updates on activities.

 

7. Fundraising Report Bill Hampton

Band had a 50/50 draw at their December concert. Bingo AGM should be attended. Gail Pohl will follow up.

 

8. Chair Report Daryl Cowden

  • PAC has been working under new constitution
  • Budget was devised
  • Staff Appreciation Lunch organized by Gayle Bliss
  • Represented PAC at school functions
  • Liaised with school's administration.

9. Election of Officers

Debbie Ibaraki led the nomination and election of officers. The following names were nominated and acclaimed:

School Planning Council: Vacant

 

10: Other Business

  • A recommendation of an accredited accountant for review of the RAMPAC financial statements is needed. Please forward names to Daryl Cowden.
  • Grad Fashion Show March 6 and 7. Assistant dressers/parent helpers are needed. Grad Committee members should also contact Donna Parkinson.

Engineers for the school's seismic upgrade gave a presentation to parents following the meeting.
